Laura Sygrove | Online Therapy for Adults and Teens dealing with Anxiety & Trauma in Toronto and Stratford, Ontario

HI, i’m Laura.

We all have stuff to work through, and I’m no different. As someone who would’ve benefited from additional supports earlier in life, I’m especially passionate about engaging adults who are facing difficulties related to the impacts of childhood experiences (such as neglect, parental addiction, loss, bullying and other forms of trauma), as well as people of all ages navigating anxiety, life changes, self-worth, grief and burnout.

While I may be a self-proclaimed introvert, my cup has always been filled up by working closely with people, and I’ve learned the value of people-centered approaches with extensive time spent in the nonprofit sector, various leadership & teaching roles, and frontline community work.

Through a grassroots organization I co-founded, I spent more than 15 years developing and leading trauma-informed programs and trainings within custody facilities and schools in the Greater Toronto Area. Before shifting to private therapy practice, I offered counselling at Lumenus Community Services (formerly Etobicoke Children’s Centre) and with Toronto-based nonprofit Hard Feelings.

Outside of work, I like to travel, write poetry, practice mindfulness movement & meditation, dance, and spend time with my loved ones & rescue pup. I currently divide my time between Toronto and Stratford, Ontario.

My Approach

I’m a firm believer that people are the experts of themselves. I strive to support clients in bringing their unique knowledge, insights and perspectives to the foreground in order to uncover a greater sense of hope and empowerment.

I approach my work in a spirit of collaboration and authenticity, grounded in trauma-informed and anti-oppression practices.

A foundational part of working with me often includes exploring current challenges through attachment & trauma lenses. This means that we may look at how early relationships, experiences, and survival adaptations may be impacting a sense of worthiness and trust with self & others.

My goal is to support people to meet the spectrum of their feelings and experiences with compassion and care.
